National Student Pride Stage Set
Guy Piper Architects designed the vibrant set for the National Student Pride event that was filmed at Heaven nightclub in London for a virtual festival.
We were delighted to work on this colourful stage set that hosted an array of celebrities such as Nick Grimshaw, Lorraine Kelly and Joanna Lumley.
The whole event was streamed online using several backdrops for various scenarios. Therefore, the set materials had to be lightweight with a simple installation technique so the panels could be quickly moved and re-set for different stage requirements.
To achieve this, timber battens were attached to the back of the shapes and screwed into the stage floor to assemble it.
We individually CNC knife cut the eco board panels that made up the main set. They were pre-printed with vivid colours and striking geometric patterns. The boards were also fully recyclable, made from a plastic free eco board, with 1mm card sandwiching a cardboard honeycomb lattice.
We also CNC cut the ‘Queen Loz’ sign for Lorraine Kelly’s pub for the pub quiz with BBC Drag Race stars Lawrence Chaney and Tia Kofi.
The overall end result was striking and fun as well as practical and the stage set certainly encapsulated the high energy of the Student Pride event.
