The Botanical Boys is a retail space offering products and experiences that connect people to nature. The company was founded by Darren Henderson and Ben Nel in 2016 after they discovered their botanical passion when renovating a Japanese and Italian water garden in 2009.

The garden became open to the public through the National Garden Scheme and the positive feedback from the public was overwhelming. The pair knew they were on to something and decided to run a series of workshops inviting people to build their own world of nature in the form of terrariums.

The workshops were a huge success and has become their USP.

They have since featured on the BBC Great British Garden Revival, as well as the Sunday Times and the New London Garden Book by Abigail Willis.

Eventually Darren was able to quit his city job in 2018 to dedicate all of his time to the business and a year later they opened their first retail space in Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross.

With the business going from strength to strength, in 2022 they were able to expand even further and opened a second retail space in Canary Wharf, offering a slice of nature to the concrete and glass city hub.

For the new Canary Wharf shop, they decided to have a large logo/sign made and contacted us to ask if we could produce it.

We CNC’d the 2m wide sign from 12ml thick birch plywood, which reflects the natural feel of the Botanical Boy’s approach to nature.

In order to give the impression of the letters appearing to float, we added wooden pegs at the back which slot into the wall for mounting.

Once installed and specially lit, we feel the sign helps to enhance the Botanical Boy’s world of nature, terrariums, mini leafy greens and African treasures.
