Abby Grewcock creates bespoke costumes for independent artists, west end shows, contemporary dance, circus, and music festivals to name a few.
Now, her own label, Flingo and Swollop brings some punk and colourful party pieces to the fashion world for all ages, from toddlers to adults.
Following a BBC appearance, when one of Abby’s pieces was worn by Sara Pascoe on the British Sewing Bee programme, orders for her colourful wings went through the roof.
She came to our Shoreditch workshop in a bit of a panic armed with bags full of material and a looming deadline for all the backorders.
Of course, we obliged, pulled out all the stops, fired up our machines and saved the day. We ended up laser cutting her multi-coloured wings in their hundreds!
And, just in case you were wondering, the rather quirky brand name of ‘Flingo and Swollop’ was inspired by Abby’s 4 year old daughter on a visit to a bird sanctuary.
